Did you know that statistically, more than 80% of users consider reading content based on their friends’ recommendations?

More than 40 billion shares are clicked each day on the web, so you can see that adding social sharing buttons on your website is a good idea to increase the overall awareness of your website..

With social sharing, you give users the ability to share your content with their own networks of friends.

WordPress has several ready-made and free or very inexpensive social sharing plugins, that allow your website visitors to share your website content easily on their social media sites.

It pays to do a little research in order to be able to pick the right sharing plugin for your particular website, but you must remember that not everyone uses the same sites as you. What social media sites do you use? What sites do your friends use that you might not? For example – I connect daily on Facebook and twitter – but I don’t use Instagram (yet!).

Still, I have links to many more social sites than those – my visitors may use Digg or Reddit or StumbleUpon, or any of the multitude of social sites that abound online. I have links to many on my site, because I want to give my visitors as many options as I can to share my content and help my site get more visits.

Setting up and managing a social media strategy can be confusing and frustrating. If you feel that this is more than you can handle yourself, there are some very good professionals who will help you set up and manage your social media marketing – one I work with is the Social  Media Fairy Godmother. She is someone who knows the social media framework inside out and can really help to define your needs and how to go about meeting them.

So – whether you do it yourself or work with a pro – get social and start sharing!
